TOTAL South Africa and UNICEF soccer development

TOTAL is involved in a four-year sponsorship of a sports development programme with UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund.  This sponsorship will involve the implementation of many activities from September 2008 to December 2011.

Some of the activities include:

    - Aims to conduct 27 training sessions with 810 coaches nationally to impact over     12 000 children.
  2. Sponsorship for community soccer tournaments
    - The objective is to host 33 community sports festivals or tournaments with 16 500 participants.
  3. Sponsorship for play through early childhood development
    - Aims to implement early childhood developmental programmes for 55 crèches, to train over 100 teachers and reach 12 000 children.
  4. Co-title sponsorship of the “Let's Play a Million” initiative through UNICEF.
    - Aims to provide thousands of children with a soccer ball and access to opportunities to play.

These programmes ensure that children have access to footballs and coaches, disseminate invaluable life skills, improve the quality of sport coaching and build hope through play and improvement in community development of new talent.
